My journey from MarketMuse to Siteimprove
A co-founder's take on the MarketMuse story, how the product works, and why we’re a perfect fit.

As both MarketMuse’s Chief Strategy Officer and one of its co-founders, I’m happy to share how excited my team is to join Siteimprove. It’s been a long and fulfilling journey for those of us at MarketMuse, and I’d like to share a little about my history and that of MarketMuse.
I’m a search engine marketing executive based out of Atlanta, with over 25 years of experience helping content marketers, search engine marketers, and e-commerce managers improve their content quality and SEO. I’ve also been in the AI space for about a decade.
Before I co-founded MarketMuse in 2015, I was a marketing and B2B software consultant, and led the Traffic, Search, and Engagement team at TechTarget, an audience analysis and content powerhouse that provides nearly 10,000 solutions for technologists and marketers on content consumption patterns.
I’ve always loved geeking out on digital marketing and regularly speak at conferences and events including ContentTECH, Marketing AI, and Content Marketing World. I’ve also had my content musings and writings published in outlets including Marketing AI Institute and Content Science, to name a few.
I also own a beer brewery in Brunswick, Georgia on the side. I’m proud to say we’re World Beer Cup medalists!
The MarketMuse story
We all know that creating high quality, optimized content that resonates with your target audience and ranks well in SEO isn’t a walk in the park. Working as a consultant in this space back in 2013, I was living and breathing these problems with my clients every single day.
Even ten years ago, there was already a growing understanding that Google was shifting its focus away from keywords and backlinks and more on AI to measure digital content for comprehensiveness, authority, and user intent. But most of the truly useful AI solutions to help marketers navigate this new world were accessible only to those with the technical skills or big budgets to use them.
That’s why we built MarketMuse. By bringing data scientists and engineers together with content strategy and SEO experts, we could make industry-leading AI easy for SEO and content teams of all sizes and skill levels.
Today, MarketMuse is an AI content strategy and intelligence platform with a mission to bridge the gap between SEO and content. The MarketMuse suite arms marketers with details on what to write and why and helps them build content plans in minutes.
By analyzing content from both websites and search and suggesting topics that enhance website content strategy and search engine ranking, MarketMuse provides insights and analysis on existing content, including keyword rankings, competitor analysis, and topic coverage.

What the Siteimprove + MarketMuse combination brings to SEO
We built this game-changing tool, but it’s a standalone, point solution: It’s very specific, and because it’s specific, marketers often perceive it as a tool that can be slapped on to the end of a content production cycle. My dream was always to have SEO integrated into every stage of the funnel to deliver measurable business results, but we just didn’t have the capacity to build that.
Cue Siteimprove! Now that MarketMuse has been acquired, we’re integrating SEO with accessibility, ads, content strategy, and marketing performance analytics to provide data-driven and inclusive user experiences that maximize conversions. The implications of that are huge: By combining these features with Siteimprove’s functionality, we will revolutionize the SEO landscape from a standalone, siloed discipline to being integrated in the entire digital marketing strategy.
By unifying SEO with accessibility, content strategy and funnel optimization, we're bridging the gap between SEO and content performance. Whether that’s aligning keyword and content strategy across organic, paid search, social media, or demand gen efforts, the result is content that's inherently optimized for search and users’ needs from ideation to publication and resonates with users at every stage of the funnel.
Before, MarketMuse was targeted toward content marketers and SEO professionals. Now, together with Siteimprove, we’re expanding our target audience to entire marketing teams, maximizing content and martech ROI every step of the way.
The future of marketing
Adding MarketMuse to Siteimprove is like creating rocket fuel for marketing teams. We've gone from being a specialist tool for SEO and content marketers to becoming a powerful platform that helps entire marketing teams optimize their websites and content. In the era of conversational search, with more information than ever scattered across countless platforms, this couldn’t be a more important time to revolutionize the way marketers work.
