Introducing the accessibility world map

Over a billion people, approximately 15% of the world’s population, have some form of a disability that makes accessing the web difficult – especially when it’s not designed to be accessible! Inaccessible websites can make every day tasks, like booking a flight, changing addresses, or booking a doctor appointment near impossible as users can’t navigate and fill out forms as intended.

Despite the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), adopted in 2006, which aims to “promote, protect and ensure the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms by all persons with disabilities, and to promote respect for their inherent dignity,” there is still a lot of work to be done before this can be achieved.

In support of the convention, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals overarching theme of 'Leaving no one behind' Siteimprove is proud to announce the launch of world-first project 'Accessibility World Map'. This project finally answers the question of which country has the most accessible websites in the world, and which industries are the most accessible.
